In May 2015, CPA was notified that we will be the recipient of a mini-grant from the OIPP Older Adults Fall Prevention Coalition for the Safe at Home Program!

The mini-grant will be used for installation of additional home safety equipment in the homes of older adult residents of our communities, PR/marketing and awareness of the Safe at Home Program and the Home Safety Collaborative.

The Safe at Home Program is designed to reduce falls among older adults by installing safety equipment (such as a shower grab bar), providing home environmental assessments and a durable medical equipment loan program for independently-living community members. Falls among older adults are preventable, yet are among the most serious of injuries, resulting in 2 hospitalizations every hour, and over $4 billion in direct medicals costs each year (in Ohio alone)!

To find out if you are eligible, or if your parent is eligible, for any component of the Safe at Home Program, please call a CPA social worker at (216) 291-3902 for South Euclid, Lyndhurst and Highland Heights, or (440) 442-2628 for Mayfield Heights and Mayfield Village.
